This MIF Encounter is an engrossing audience with one of the most thoughtful and fascinating voices in British contemporary art: the brilliant Lubaina Himid.

We were honoured when Lubaina accepted our invitation to design the first Interdependence artist commission for our series of talks and discussions at MIF17, and doubly delighted when she also agreed to speak at the event. At the time, she had been nominated for the Turner Prize – and five months later, she was announced as the winner, the first black woman to win the award.

Titled in honour of her powerful 2004 installation and presented on the stage set she designed for us, her MIF17 talk explores power, art, money from her own very personal perspectives – and is followed by a Q&A with members of the audience. Re-watch this instalment of our series of MIF Encounters.
